Restoration Hardball

While the Democratic incumbent in New York's first congressional district, Tim Bishop, watches delightedly, three Republicans, including Nixon grandson Christopher Nixon Cox, hammer each other senseless:
In direct mailings and broadcast advertisements bombarding Fox News viewers and listeners of WABC radio, each man accuses the others of being carpetbaggers, frauds and bogus conservatives....

Mr. Cox does claim to have created jobs as a lawyer and a business consultant, but has shied away from providing any numbers or details about those efforts, which is something his rivals, of course, ridicule.

“There’s nothing that would qualify him to run for Congress other than winning the birth lottery,” [rival candidate and former prosecutor George] Demos said.
The primary election's Tuesday. Most experts say the district leans Democratic in November.

Nixon's On The Ballot Yet Again

George Demos, vying with Christopher Nixon Cox for the GOP nomination in New York's first congressional district, isn't confining his campaign to Long Island issues. He's also running against the most famous mosque in Manhattan and the most famous Quaker from Whittier.

Only Half The Demos Needs Apply

As Republicans continue to defile the First Amendment to win some House and Senate seats, a former governor of New York criticizes local officials for letting the lower Manhattan mosque go forward and for failing to do more to rebuild a Greek Orthodox church that was destroyed on Sept. 11. To give some additional heft to this brazen hypocrisy, at the same news conference a GOP congressional candidate from Long Island, George Demos, a Greek Orthodox Christian himself, piped in:
[He] said, without offering evidence, that the Islamic center would be built with money from Saudi Arabia, “a nation that prohibits people from even wearing a cross or the Star of David.”
Whereas the Greek Orthodox church prohibits half its people from even wearing a collar.
