I Am Stardust, I Am Golden, But You Suck

[A]fter a computer analysis of three decades of hit songs...psychologists report finding what they were looking for: a statistically significant trend toward narcissism and hostility in popular music. As they hypothesized, the words “I” and “me” appear more frequently along with anger-related words, while there’s been a corresponding decline in “we” and “us” and the expression of positive emotions.

The Last Might've Been First

Reviewing a new book called The Narcissism Epidemic, Raina Kelley may have had her tongue in cheek when she devoted the entire first paragraph to herself. Here's how her article ends:
As an antidote to a skyrocketing self-worth, [Jean M. Twenge, one of the co-authors,] recommends humility, evaluating yourself more accurately, mindfulness and putting others first. Such values may seem quaint, maybe even self-defeating, to those of us who think we're special, but trust me: it gets easier with practice.
